North American Drama Therapy Association Awards

Awards are presented annually at the North American Drama Therapy Association conference.

Recipients are chosen by the NADTA Board from a list of candidates nominated by NADTA members. To nominate a member for an award, send an email to: presidentelect@nadt.org. Please include a description of the nominee's work which includes support for meeting the award criteria. A nominee must be an NADTA member to be considered for an award.

The Gertrud Schattner Award

The Gertrud Schattner Award has been given since 1993 in recognition of distinguished contribution to the field of drama therapy in education, publication, practice, and service. This award is not necessarily given every year.

The Raymond Jacobs Memorial Diversity Award

The Raymond Jacobs Memorial Diversity Award is given to an NADTA member in recognition of outstanding dedication to diversity in the field of drama therapy, through advocacy, championing a diverse membership, or working to increase skill, awareness and cultural competence.

The North American Drama Therapy Association Student Service Award

The NADTA Student Service Award is given to recognize a student member of NADTA who has volunteered substantial time and effort serving the association, the student members of NADTA, and/or students of drama therapy at large on a project or series of projects in the past year. The purpose of this award is to demonstrate to students that the association values their contributions to the field, for they are the future of drama therapy.

The NADTA Performance Award is given to an NADTA member in recognition of their exemplary use of live or recorded performance to facilitate individual or collective awareness and transformation.
