Canadian Exec (Chapter Officers)

President -- Gwyneth Gorman

Gwyneth is a 2003 graduate from Concordia's Drama Therapy program and currently works for a hospital-based, non-profit organization offering free services and psychosocial support to cancer patients and caregivers. Gwyneth takes advantage of being embedded in the medical community to educate multi-disciplinary teams, both at home in Montreal, and at national and international conferences about the value and integrity of drama therapy. Gwyneth is inspired to contribute to the ever increasing Canadian drama therapy community.

Vice-President -- Susan Ward

Susan Ward is a graduate of the dramatherapy program at Concordia University. She followed the Marriage and Family training program at the Argyle Institute. Susan has also followed intensive training in Narrative Therapy and CBT. She works at CLSC Parc-Extension on the Youth Mental Health team, maintains a private practice and teaches part-time in the dramatherapy program at Concordia University.

 

Past President -- Monica Sweeney

Since graduating from Concordia University’s Drama Therapy program, Monica Sweeney has been working for Agence Ometz, in both the School Services Department and in the Family Play Therapy Program. In 2011, Monica earned her post-graduate degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from the Argyle Institute of Human Relations. Monica also maintains a private practice in the downtown Montreal Are

Treasurer -- Leah Lewis

Leah is a Drama Therapist and Counseling Psychologist, trained at the University of Hertfordshire in the UK. Her practice has been eclectic, spanning from arts based exploration of the patient-physician relationship at Memorial University of Newfoundland's School of Medicine to therapeutic work with incarcerated youth in open custody. Most recently, Leah has been working expressly with divorced and separated families, providing therapeutic intervention and assessments for Newfoundland and Labrador's family mediation and counseling program as part of the Provincial Supreme Court's Family Court System. Leah makes use of play, drama and systemic approaches in her work with these families. Leah is currently working on her PhD at Concordia University in Montreal, researching the experience of grief through chronic illness.

Corresponding Secretary -- Angel Bilagot

Since graduating from Concordia University, Angel Bilagot has specialized in working with children in settings such as hospitals, schools, private clinics and non-profit organizations. She is now a mother of 2 beautiful boys and currently works in Calgary, Alberta, running therapeutic groups for teens.
