Procedures for RDT Applicants

  PROCEDURES

Application forms and additional information concerning registration are available from the NADT office. Application forms may also be downloaded from the website.

Deadlines for submission are March 15 and August 15 of each year and are strictly adhered to.

ALL FORMS MUST BE TYPED. No application will be accepted if it is handwritten.

Official undergraduate and graduate transcripts documenting educational requirements must accompany the application. Alternative training students must include a signed copy of their completed Alternative Training Learning Contract.

In addition, three confidential letters of recommendation must be obtained by the applicant and must accompany the application. The writer’s signature must be over the seal of the envelope.

Recommendation #1:

A supervisor who has overseen the applicant’s paid employment as a drama therapist.

Recommendation #2:

An individual who has been in charge of the applicant’s drama therapy education and training. For graduates of an NADT approved drama therapy program, this must be the program director. For alternative training students, this must be their RDT/BCT Mentor.

Recommendation #3:

A drama therapist, creative arts therapist or licensed mental health colleague or supervisor who is familiar with the extent and quality of the applicant’s work.

The application is not considered to be complete until ALL parts are in the office.

There is a non-refundable $75 application fee.

If you receive your RDT, thereafter you will be billed by NADT a yearly fee to maintain your Registry. Billing coincides with the NADT membership year and may be paid in one check.

If you do not renew your registry annually, you will lose your registration. In order to reinstate it, you may be required to go through the registry application process again.

Registry requirements may be amended; please contact the NADT office for current standards, information and/or to obtain the most current application.
